Rob Crypt has been a full-time artist
since around may 2013. At first my output was a bit shit and nobody really
understands why people supported it, but they did and that’s lovely and very
important. As time went on I developed my skills, studied more styles and drew from
wider inspiration. I also researched and took an approach to plastic-free
and zero-waste packaging. It isn’t always easy to do but, alongside high quality
artwork made with the best supplies available, it’s always a priority.
The first venture into zero-waste products
and packaging was March 2018’s “risen” collection, which featured bamboo
toothbrushes, bamboo phone cases and wooden pins. As part of this collection,
suppliers were also encouraged to reduce their use of plastics in packaging and
products that they offer as a way of making sure customers' plastic-free
activism went backwards as well as forwards.
Following the “risen” collection came the
“overlook” collection, which included more bamboo toothbrushes and phone cases with
a theme of art nouveau designs you’d expect to see in a haunted hotel.
Aside from these collections (including
smaller collections like “boneman”) a handful of other themes stand out amongst
my work. These mostly take the form of jaggy skulls, painted wooden hands
and page paintings. They’ve quickly gained popularity and become vaguely
synonymous with my name.
As for the future? There are a few
more collections lined up for release in the next couple of years, but for now
there’s a lot of mad shit going on in the world so for now I'm more than happy to
just be a distraction from all of that.
